Little things that bring me JOY!
HEY YALL! It’s been a minute I KNOW. Lately, I’ve been starting on my next piece before finishing the last, but here I am now, rested and ready. Recently, “bad” things have just kept occurring, and sometimes it makes me feel pretty down. However, looking for the little bits of good in the bad has had an insane effect on how these speed bumps affect me. For example, I had surgery last week and got super behind on school. How can having a lot of school work be a good thing?? At first, I was extremely stressed by the amount of work I had to complete. Then I realized that it actually gave me something to do while the rest of my team was playing softball. I recognized that this workload diverted my thoughts about the sad end of my senior season to something more educational and positive. Just that small change of perspective actually brought me so much comfort.
In order to brighten my days a bit more, I look for some little things that make me happy whenever I find them. In no particular order, here are my favorite day brighteners.
Peach Green Tea
Wordle
The app Alpha Bet
Sunsets
Dandelions
When I make a bracelet and the tie is hidden perfectly
Seeing someone smile after something I said
Making lists
When a sinks faucet isn't too close to the back of the sink
My dogs, friends, and family
Thinking about the fact that I woke up
Chicken
No homework days
Time to read a good book
When my Bible verse of the day is just what I needed
Hearing a funny story
Brushing my hair and there are no knots
Finding a lost Chapstick/ Aquaphor
The color green
Candles
Fluffy socks
Nature
Watching a thunderstorm
When my favorite song plays in a public place
Meeting new people
Stars
When an extra chicken nugget is put in my box
Cool looking clouds
Being at home when it rains
Seeing someone genuinely happy
Little things make a big difference. I have noticed that in all of my days, good or bad, it is always possible to find some good. I encourage you all to make a list of some of your favorite day brighteners and watch how they appear during your bad days.

Signing off,
Mir
